On 24(Wed) September, 21 JAAGA regular members (Mr.Yamaoka, head of group) visited Yokota Air Base with JAAGA annual plan. Members assembled at JR.Fussa station at 9:30 a.m., took USAF bus to Yokota AB with guiding by Mr.Abe who is the person in charge of public affair of Yokota AB.. 
  Lt.Gen.Rice(5AF/CC) was out of office on that day, so representative of group, Mr.Yamaoka, liaison secretariat Yamamoto and planning secretariat Ogawa, had a courtesy visit to Maj.Gen.James (5AF/CV).
  Before noon, vice commander provided us briefing about 5th Air Force at headquarters. At this briefing, he said he could reply any question except US Presidential election and political issues of US and Japan. He explained in detail about importance of Pacific region, risks related on Russia, China, North Korea, US policy toward Japan, organization of USAF Japan, USAF major operations in future. General kindly and politely answered to our questions
  We moved to site where headquarters facilities of Air Defense Command, JASDF, were under construction, there we were explained about them by Lt.Col.Sekioka, Air Defense Operation Group (JASDF). Then we made field trip to base facilities on bus.
  Vice commander and directors of 5th Air Force, commander of 374 Air Wing (commander of Yokota AB) and other units commanders joined our luncheon at Yokota Officers Club.
  Afternoon we visited to 730th Air Mobility Squadron, subordinate squadron of 715th Air Mobility Operation Group, received explanation on this squadron, and observed their facilities and equipment. After then we went to AFN (American Forces Network) broadcasting station
, there Ms.Yamazaki (TV caster of "TO1") guided and explained us about AFN station.   Then we visited headquarters of Yokota Air Base, and got briefings about newest status of Yokota AB. At this briefing, Mr.Abe illustrated many interesting episode like as the origin of name of Yokota AB and others.
  We could have substantial visiting with excellent support by Mr.Abe (Hq.374AW) and Mr.McClan (Hq,5AF). We would like to express appreciation to the persons concerned.  (Reported by secretariat Takasugi)
