I am Yoshiyuki Sugiyama, President of Japan-America Air Force Goodwill
Association (JAAGA). JAAGA, since its establishment in 1996 as an organization
comprised of spontaneous alumni of Koku-Jieitai (Japan Air Self-Defense
Force) and general members who are willing to engage in, has been committed
various activities to achieve better cooperation and mutual understanding
between the two air forces of Japan and the United States.
The current security situation in the Indo-Pacific region has been getting more serious day by day, and the tension has strained highly than ever. In that circumstances, the Japan-US alliance becomes a cornerstone not only for both countries but also for this region to sustain the stability and deter adversaries. And moreover, it is expected to be more practical. I would like to show my best appreciation and respect to the steady and continuous efforts of active duty members of two air forces to realize it, and I believe, supporting them from various aspects is the most important role of JAAGA.
Since last year, every country and organization has been suffering from
COVID-19 and there is no exception including JAAGA. Under the difficult
situation, JAAGA will continue challenging in earnest to make the relationship
of both air forces stronger, while adapting to new environment and seeking
suitable ways. I would like to request sincerely your support and vigorous
participation as a member of our precious association.
