As the officer in charge of training and resources for the 35th Security Forces Squadron, he has led the way in integrating Japan Ground Self Defense Force personnel and U.S. Security Forces personnel into a collective team, enhancing the force protection effectiveness of Misawa Air Base. He has been involved in virtually every venue to ensure the synergy between military security forces, Japanese civilian guards and local police departments. He also participated to the USFJ Force Protection conference concerning initial implementation plans for integrating Japan Ground Self-Defense Force personnel into US Air Force Installation defense operations and provided critical input to the first Memorandum of Agreement Installation between the USFJ and JGSDF.. |

His distinctive efforts reflect the highest standards of respect and professionalism as he and key members of the 374th Civil Engineer Environmental Flight, the 374th Contracting Squadron and the 374th Airlift Wing Public Affairs staff promptly responded to the Tokorozawa diesel fuel spill, which occurred 31 Aug 2004. Their dedication and immediate concern for the citizens of Tokorozawa City were evident from the onset of the incident. The cooperation between the 374th Airlift Wing and local city and government officials exemplified his dedication and willingness to quickly remedy the situation. During each phase of the clean-up effort, his and his staff regularly provided updated information to local city and government officials, which greatly helped to alleviate the fears and concerns of the Japanese citizens residing in Tokorozawa City. His willingness to respond to the questions and concerns from both government and city officials, as well as the news media, created a solid working relationship built on trust and understanding. His keen insight, leadership and cooperation successfully resulted in a timely yet thorough clean-up effort, which not only ensured the safety of the citizens of Tokorozawa City but also preserved the surrounding environment. Their outstanding teamwork and exceptional efforts will enhance the concept and direction of the Japan and the United States in the future. Moreover, the effort shown by he and his team further strengthens the bilateral relationship between our two great nations. |

He was assigned to the posting of the coordination window in the maintenance and support field at the joint training between the Japan Air Self Defense Force and the U.S. Air Force over the Island of Guam in November 2003, he assigned to be the escort personnel of the international conference of the Chief of Staff of Air Forces in September 2004. He joined and contributed to the coordination conference on JASDF alert condition of the Intercept Fighter Sq. at Kadena Air Base recently, he enthusiastically promoted the mutual relations between the two important Air Forces. |

As the Bilateral Exchange NCO, he has been the catalyst for three base tours of Kadena Air Base by Japan Air Self Defense Force(JASDF) personnel, he assisted with recruitment of JASDF personnel to help with the Kadena Special Olympics and coordinated two special tours of Naha Air Base. He played a key role for two first-time ever events for the wing when he helped establish the Company Grade Officer Friendship club, and inclusion of JASDF Chief selects participation in the 18th Wing’s Chiefs Induction Ceremony. In addition, he bolstered friendship and enhanced appreciation of both cultures when he coordinated several other activities focused on the Joint Multinational environment. He briefed senior JASDF enlisted officials on the Noncommissioned Officer Academy’s (NCOA) mission and helped screen 60 potential JASDF NCOs for NCOA attendance. Furthermore, he dealt with Naha AB’s JASDF Education and Training Division to facilitate quarterly English tutoring sessions. |
