2005 Kadena Special Olympics Games which had been scheduled on 11st June was postponed to 18th June, because
the heavy rain hit Okinawa area. The severe thunder storm stroke there
on 17th June, and raining was forecasted next day (18th June). Though we
had worried about the weather of games day, it incredibly cleared up. This
Olympics Games has been entirely supported by Kadena Air Base (USAF), and
JAAGA annually has donated some money to this and sent the representatives
to it.. Maj.Gen.Takiwaki (Base Commander, JASDF Naha), Maj.Gen.Ishizu (head
of JAAGA Okinawa, JASDF retired) and LTG.Hoso (JAAGA vice president, JASDF
retired) took part in this games. All attendants were disappointed that
Mr. Schieffer, US Ambassador, did not attend because of the postponement. When
Gen.Hoso met Brig.Gen.Jouas (Base Commander, Kadena AB) and his senior
staffs, he expressed the appreciation on the support for the visit of JAAGA
associate members. The 900 players, 3000 escorts, 400 interpreters, 1500
USAF members and 100 JASDF member from Naha NCOs party participated the
