On 1st June (Wed.), Colonel Scott P.Goodwin arrived to the commander
of Yokora Air Base as the successor of Colonel Schissler from Little Rock
Air Base, Arkansas. In the morning of the day, the change of command ceremony
was held under the command of Lt.Gen.Wright (5AF/CC) in the presence of the airmen of 374th Airlift Wing, many
distinguish guests and families at the hunger of Yokota AB. JAAGA officers,
Ochi, Enoki, Bandoh and Matsui were present at the ceremony. Under the
performance by Yokota Air Band, three commanders went up the stage, the
national flags of United States and Japan and the colors followed, then
the national anthem of both countries were performed. In the ceremony,
Commander Wright presented the medal to Col.Schissler who would leave and
introduced Col.Goodwin to the audience. After this, General received the
commanding flag from Col. Schissler, and gave it to new commander, Col.Goodwin.
At the stage, Col. Schissler had a speech, he talked about the memory of
his assignment at Yokota AB and cited "If possible, someday I wish
to return as a commander to this wonderful Japan". In succession,
new commander Col.Goodwin strongly stated " I am very honor to be
assigned as the commander of most glorious and historic 374th Airlift Wing. After
the ceremony, we moved to Yokota Officer's Club, and attended the welcome
reception. Then we exchanged friendship with VIPs of Yokota AB and many
guests. The predecessor, Col. Schissler, moves to J-5 office of Joint Staffs
